Our Story

CAREforSeven stands for Clean, Affordable, Accessible and Reliable Energy, representing the United Nations’ 7th goal for universal access to clean and reliable energy by 2030.
CAREforSeven's journey began early February 2017 when 14 individuals were selected by the UK based nonprofit World Merit to join other 16 teams as part of WorldMerit360, one of the largest and most prestigious global gatherings for implementing solutions to the UN's Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), organized in partnership with the United Nations itself.
We are 14 young energy professionals from over 11 countries and across 4 continents who came together by our common interest to bring affordable and clean energy to communities that lack it. Our members are from Nigeria, Ghana, Kenya, Cameroon, Kurdistan, Palestine, Italy, Egypt, the United States, the United Kingdom and Pakistan. Our team has a combined 35 years’ experience in the public, private, and non-profit sectors: we are PhDs, master students, policy analysts, economists, engineers, and entrepreneurs who invented products and implemented solutions.
Individually in our countries, we are committed to bringing clean cooking fuel to villages, reliable electricity to hospitals and schools and affordable energy to residents facing rising costs. Together as a team, we are driven by our belief that collaboration and diversity yield greater results. Our shared team values are respect, responsibility and dedication to serve our communities.
In September 2017, our team will be pitching our project in front of a prestigious audience at the British Parliament in London during this year’s WorldMerit360 event. Learn here how to support us!

CAREforSeven Introduction

More About World Merit

World Merit is the world’s largest network of young professionals dedicated to addressing the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals. Based in the United Kingdom, the nonprofit has a global network of over 125,000 active changemakers that regularly implement projects with local partners and spread awareness of the UN’s SDGs. To date, the organization's year round programming has reached over 7.5 million people worldwide.
WorldMerit360 is the world’s most significant program for young people to tackle the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals. Every year, the program brings together 360 changemakers from all over the world to one venue to develop action plans addressing all 17 SDGs. After 10 days of intensive training, participants pitch their action plans to senior political officials, delegates, diplomats, and corporate leaders to receive support and funding. Previous attendees of WorldMerit360 events have included, among others, Noble Peace prize winners such as Malala Yousafzai and world-renowned investors such as Richard Branson. More information about the event can be found here.
